SHI IDCS Solutions Consultant in Piscataway, New Jersey

Job Summary

The Integration Data Center Solutions consultant will create project design, implementation documents and support custom build solutions. This role also involves examining current business architectural designs and working with other members of the team to ensure successful implementation of designs and completion of projects.

The IDCS Solutions Consultant reports toIDCS Solutions Consultant Team Lead and is performed from SHI’s Piscataway, NJ Ridge integration center

Responsibilities

include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with inside/outside sales teams to interpret and identify the customer needs and the scope of the project

  • Attend customer meetings with salesperson to present scope of project and answer customer technical questions

  • Advocate SHI’s recommended solution and convey confidence to achieve customer expectations and meet customer business needs

  • Create project design, documentation, and supplementary documents for the build teams to use during production

  • Create bill of materials (BOM) for project designs

  • Respond to request from Management to provide support including builds/BOM review, design and update, technical document creation for internal teams, sales, and customers

  • Oversee a portfolio of technical customer projects

  • Ensure successful end-to-end delivery of rack integration services and deployments

  • Obtain certifications as required to become an expert with SHI partner products and solutions

  • Attend webinars and training from partner vendors, review technologies and strategize for future implementation and best practices

  • Estimate time frames, quality, and quantity of resources required to successfully implement technical projects utilizing project documentation and collaborating with team

  • Communicate with multiple layers of management both within the organization and externally to convey project status, changes and documentation updates.

  • Mentor and assist team members on the Integration Data Center Services team by sharing knowledge and collaborating with HR training team to create training materials to benefit team members.

  • Rack and de-rack customer equipment for projects, testing, and design purposes (i.e., network devices, power distribution units, servers, storage, cabinet accessories, etc.)

  • Deliver a world class customer experience that meets SHI standards

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent relevant industry experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience withBill of Materials (BOM)

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experiencecreating custom technical documentation

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experiencewith high availability architectures and clustering solutions

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experiencewith virtualization (hypervisors, server, and desktop virtualization)

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience technical knowledge and consultative skills

  • Ability to train and disseminate information within a given discipline

  • Technical knowledge and consultative skills

  • Microsoft Excel ability with knowledge of formulas and functions for document creation

  • Understanding of power and cooling principles in a data center environment

  • Understand 2D and 3D engineering drawings and models

  • Ability to understand complex technical configurations

  • Highly organized individual with excellent project management skills

  • Motivated, disciplined, and able to produce quality results under pressure

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas succinctly

  • Ability to learn new technology and explain capabilities

  • Excellent presentation skills for client meetings

  • Attention to detail is required for reviewing customer documentation and verifying Bill of Materials (BOM)

  • Strong abilities in testing and evaluation techniques

  • Ability to obtain technical certifications regularly

Preferred Skills/Qualification:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other related field such as Information Technology or Computer Science

  • Experience creating diagrams and working with stencils in Microsoft Visio

  • Experience working with AirTable

  • Skills in programming languages such as Python is a plus

Certifications Required

A candidate must possess at least one of the mandatory certifications within a year of commencing in the role:

Mandatory

  • Cisco CCNA Data Center

  • Dell Server Associate and Specialist

  • HPE ATP Data center Solutions

  • HPE ATP Server Solutions

  • Lenovo technical sales certification

Other certifications as needed for expertise around servers, storage, and networking, virtualization, and cloud technologies

Unique Requirements

  • Extended hours may be required to complete assigned work tasks as necessary

  • Position requires the ability to move or lift up to 50lbs

  • Travel may be required for certification and occasional local travel to customer locations (10%)

Additional Information

  • The estimated annual pay range for this position is $45,000 - $100,000 which includes a base salary and bonus. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
