SHI Sr. Telecom Administrator in Austin, Texas

Job Summary

The Sr. Telcom Administrator is a member of the Information Technology Department who is responsible for the design, configuration, operation, and maintenance of SHI’s telecommunications and unified communications systems. They serve as the subject matter expert on VoIP telephony, SIP, contact centers, and voice communication in UCC systems.

This position is required to report to the SHI Somerset NJ or Austin, TX office location as determined by SHI management.

Responsibilities

Included but not limited to:

  • Configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and upgrade communications servers, gateways, session border controllers, and voice application servers.

  • Design, program, monitor, and troubleshoot contact center solutions and their supporting applications.

  • Optimize call routing for cost control and high availability.

  • Prepare recommendations for system improvements and cost reduction.

  • Create and maintain system design documentation for telecommunications systems.

  • Select, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot IP phones.

  • Provide level 2/3 support for incidents and problems.

  • Create disaster recovery plans for telecommunications systems and validate/test the plans.

  • Conduct regular reviews of security controls for telecommunications systems.

  • Manage telecommunications service orders and disconnections.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of experience configuring and maintaining VoIP telephony systems OR associate degree and 7 years of experience configuring and maintaining VoIP telephony systems.

  • Experience with managing voice gateways, session border controllers, and endpoints.

  • Excellent knowledge of network topologies and telephony networks.

  • Strong knowledge of TDM and IP telephony protocols.

  • Experience and track record of supporting complex computer systems/applications as it relates to telecommunications.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting IP PBX systems.

  • Ability to configure session border controllers.

  • Ability to implement IP telephony connections to service providers.

  • Ability to install telecommunications equipment and servers.

  • Excellent writing skills to produce written reports of recommendations, metrics, technical documentation, and disaster recovery plans.

  • Excellent teamwork and organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to handle multiple tasks.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to follow a structured methodology to solve problems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Desire and ability to research and study technology to increase knowledge and solve problems.

  • Self-motivated and possessing the ability to complete tasks and projects when provided with high level requirements.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • Prefer strong knowledge of Avaya SBC, Avaya Session, Communication, and System Manager

  • Prefer experience configuring AudioCodes SBCs

  • Prefer experience administering AudioCodes One Voice Operations Center (OVOC)

  • Prefer experience supporting Microsoft Teams PBX functions, direct routing, and calling plans.

  • Prefer experience administering cloud contact center solutions.

Certifications Required

  • MS700

Additional Information

  • The estimated annual pay range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
